Today, there is an encounter between the police and the Naxalites in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. In this encounter, the police have killed 13 Naxalites. The bodies of all the Naxalites killed have been recovered. The encounter took place between the Maharashtra Police’s C-60 unit and the Naxalites in the forests of Etapalli in Gadchiroli. However, the bodies recovered have not been identified yet. A police team search operation is going on in the area right now. Please tell that the Gadchiroli area of Maharashtra is bordering Chhattisgarh. This entire area is Naxalite affected.
It is being told that the police team had received information about the Naxalites in the area. After which the C-60 commando team of police conducted a search operation. During this period, the Naxalites attacked the police team and then the encounter started. 13 Naxalites have been killed in this encounter, whose bodies have been recovered. Gadchiroli DIG Sandeep Patil has also confirmed this.
Gadchiroli DIG Sandeep Patil told news agency PTI that the encounter started at 5.30 am in a wooded area near Kotami, where Maoists had gathered for a meeting.
“Based on specific inputs, a police party comprising C-60 commandos launched a search operation in the jungle,” he said. He said that the rebels saw the police and opened fire.
Superintendent of Police (Gadchiroli) Ankit Goyal told PTI-Bhasha that the encounter lasted for about an hour, after which the remaining rebels fled into the surrounding forest.
He said the bodies of the Maoists have been recovered and the search operation is on.
Today’s campaign comes two months after five Maoists – who had a collective reward of Rs 43 lakh – were killed in an encounter in the same district.
