In light of the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 9th and 10th in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a three-day closure of all government, municipal corporation, and private offices as well as schools in the city from September 8 to September 10. The decision aims to address potential challenges such as traffic congestion and logistical issues due to the influx of delegates for the summit. The move also follows a recommendation from the Delhi Police’s Special Commissioner to declare a government holiday during these dates.

To manage the anticipated surge in traffic and ensure the safety and smooth movement of dignitaries, including notable figures like US President Joe Biden, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and French President Emmanuel Macron, the Delhi Police have been actively making arrangements. This includes conducting a mock drill on major roads that connect the main summit venue, Pragati Maidan, to various hotels. During this drill, traffic police personnel were deployed at key junctions, and barricades were set up at diversion points to simulate the restrictions and diversions that will be in place during the summit.
