Azam Khan: Today in Delhi, the Coordination Committee of the opposition alliance INDIA will hold its inaugural meeting. This will cover seat sharing with other states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana. Azam Khan’s Al Jauhar Trust Under Scrutiny; Income Tax Department’s Watchful Eye
The Income Tax Department is reportedly also keeping an eye on Azam Khan’s Al Jauhar Trust. For stealing land for Johar University in 2019, the SP leader was the target of more than 30 cases. He was referred to be a land mafia by the BJP government. Azam Khan was the subject of a case that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also opened. Let me inform you that the Income Tax Department began looking into the affidavit filed against Azam Khan, his wife Tanzin Fatima, and their son Abdullah Azam six months ago. During the assembly elections, the department discovered a great deal of anomalies in his income tax affidavit.
Two-Year Prison Sentence Under Yogi Government
After the Yogi government took office in UP, Azam Khan’s problems did not get any better. The SP leader was given a two-year prison sentence on July 15, 2023, by the MP-MLA court of Rampur for his comments made against CM Yogi Adityanath prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to a crowd at Dhanora, Rampur, in favour of an alliance candidate, Azam Khan made the remark.
