Independence Day 2022: This year India got independence on August 15th, 1947 from British rule and this year we will celebrate 75 years of independence as Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. In Bastar, Chattisgarh, there are still some Villages that are affected by Naxals where Naxals celebrate this day as black day by hoisting black flags on Independence Day and Republic Day.
Due to Naxalism in Bastar for several decades villagers were not aware of the tricolour, now the villagers here will proudly wave the tricolour in their respective villages and in government buildings along with schools this year.
In Bastar, still, there are some villages in the Naxal-affected areas of Bastar, where Naxalites celebrate this day as Black Day by hoisting black flags on Independence Day and Republic Day.

The Naxalites keep the villagers away from celebrating this national festival, but for the last few years, the way Bastar police is weakening their organization by entering the stronghold of Naxalites and forcing them to go on the back foot, now a lot of enthusiasm can be seen about the national festival this year in rural areas.
Even the villagers are also excited over hoisting the national flag in their areas for the first time on the occasion of Independence Day. Bastar IG Sundarraj P said that on the occasion of August 15 this year, the tricolour will be hoisted for the first time in more than six villages, which were once a stronghold of Naxalites, and police personnel and villagers of these areas have already started preparing for it.
From the last few years the Naxals have been waving black flags on Independence day as well as Republic Day and prohibiting the villagers to celebrate the national festival.
Naxals ruling for over 4 decades
Because of the Naxals sitting on tramps for more than four decades, the villagers were not able to celebrate their national festival even if they want to. They have no idea why the tricolour flag is hoisted at the national festival. For the last four decades, Naxals have been sitting in these areas.

Due to this, there is no flag hoisting nor any cultural program organized at the national festival. Because of the Naxalites’ terror, the villagers have to follow in the Naxals’ footsteps, However, for this year it is changed. On the celebration of Amrit Mahotsav of independence, Bastar Police has decided that now the tricolour will fly gracefully in these Naxal strongholds and every villager will celebrate this national festival.
Police won the trust of villagers
Bastar IG Sundarraj P said that the police won the trust of the villagers by setting up camps in the village and anti-Naxal operations were launched to bring the Naxalites on the back foot, due to which the Naxalites have largely moved away from these areas now.
After this, the police and the district administration have provided development together in these villages, along with giving information about the national festival to the villagers as well as motivating the children here to send them to school. Schools here have also been reopened.
Villagers support to Police
For the first time here, the tricolour will be hoisted on the occasion of Independence Day and on this national festival, every village will celebrate this festival with great pomp. The IG said that the police have already started preparations in these villages for the flag hoisting on Independence Day.
The police have got the immense support of the entire villagers to celebrate this festival with pomp. The villagers are also very excited to celebrate this festival. He says that now with the arrival of the tricolour in his village, he will be able to celebrate his national festival with magnificence.
