1. First Olympic Medal – KD Jadhav – 1952

2. India clinches first Hockey World Cup1975

The Indian hockey contingent secured a second-place position in 1973 and clinched third place in 1971 during the World Cup tournaments. In the year 1980, Prakash Padukone etched his name in history by securing victory in the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships, thus becoming the first Indian to reach this remarkable milestone. His outstanding contributions to the sport were recognized with the Arjuna Award bestowed upon him in 1972, and later in 1982, he was honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
