Independence Day 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need to eliminate what he referred to as “three sins” to propel India into becoming a developed country by 2047. He took a dig at the Opposition while expressing a commitment to place India among the top three global economies within the next five years.
Women-led development
Addressing the citizens as ‘parivaarjan’ (family members) on India’s 77th Independence Day, PM Modi stressed the pivotal role of women, citing “Nari Shakti” or women’s power, in driving the nation’s progress.
“The one thing that will take the country forward is women-led development. Today, we can proudly say that India has the maximum number of pilots in civil aviation. Women scientists are leading the Chandrayaan mission. The G20 countries are also recognising the importance of women-led development,” said PM Modi on Independence Day.
Prime Minister introduced the ‘Vishwakarma Yojana’
The Prime Minister introduced the ‘Vishwakarma Yojana,’ allocating a budget of Rs 13,000-15,000 crore to support traditional craftsmen and laborers.
Modi targets opposition
Taking a critical stance against the Opposition, PM Modi advocated for eradicating “corruption, nepotism, and appeasement.” He highlighted his government’s actions in removing 10 crore fake beneficiaries from welfare schemes and significantly increasing the confiscation of unlawfully acquired assets.
“The world has still not recovered from Corona. The war gave rise to another crisis. Today, the world is facing the crisis of inflation. Inflation has the entire global economy in its clutches…It is unfortunate that when we import goods of our necessity, we also import inflation. But, India made all efforts to control inflation…We can’t be content just because our situation is better than the rest of the world. I have to take more steps to see that the burden of inflation goes further down on the citizens of my country. We will take those steps and my efforts will continue…”
Modi said that reform, perform and transform are changing the country.
