India-Austria Relations: Austria describes India as close and reliable partner prior to EAM Jaishankar’s visit

India-Austria Relations: Before India’s foreign minister Dr. S. Jaishankar visited, Austria described India as a “close and trustworthy partner.” The Indian foreign minister will be in the nation from January 1 to January 3 and will meet with his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Schallenberg, during that time.

Jaishankar’s trip to Austria will mark the first by an Indian foreign minister in 27 years

In the run-up to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Austria and India in 2023, Jaishankar’s trip to Austria will mark the first by an Indian foreign minister in 27 years.

“The conversation between the Ministers will comprise bilateral political, commercial and migration aspects as well as regional and multilateral issues”, a spokeswoman for the Austrian foreign ministry said, adding that ” India is a close and trusted partner and democratic ally and can be a strong voice on many pressing global issues.”

This was the two leader’s fifth meeting

The two also met at the most recent Munich Security Conference, the Globsec Bratislava Forum, and the UN General Assembly. Minister Schallenberg visited Delhi in March.
