India-Canada Relations: Parents of Indian students in Canada are reportedly under the most stress as a result of the deteriorating ties between the two countries. These parents have pleaded with the governments of both nations to resolve this issue. Since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed that India was responsible for the assassination of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, there has been animosity between the two nations.
Deteriorating Relations Stem from 1996
In 1996, Hardeep Singh Nijjar used a forged passport to go from India to Canada. He was pursuing an anti-India agenda while participating in Khalistani activities in this country. He was killed in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, following a Gurudwara in June of this year by unidentified gunmen. This matter is being looked into. However, Trudeau has claimed that Indian spies were responsible for the assassination, which has caused a deterioration in relations between India and Canada. Due of the tense relations between India and Canada, parents are concerned. Canadian students are Kuldeep Kaur’s daughters, an Amritsar local. Speaking to the news organisation ANI, he expressed his concern for their safety. They worry that something negative could happen to them. He suggested that the governments of the two nations work together to find a resolution. For the past four to five years, Kaur said, her daughters have been studying in Canada.
Concerns Proliferate Among Parents as Students Face Academic Challenges Amid India-Canada Tensions
Balwinder Singh, an Amritsar local, also experiences this phobia. Less than seven months prior, his daughter had moved to Canada. “There are reports in the media that there is tension between the two countries,” Balwinder stated. There is a lot of pressure on my daughter. She struggles to focus on her schoolwork. On the other hand, many students who had intended to study in Canada have now postponed their plans. The conflict that has developed between Canada and India is the cause of this. As a result of Canadian High Commission’s decision to scale back its diplomatic representation in India, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated on Saturday, tensions between India and Canada appear to be rising. Let us inform you that a senior diplomat was ordered to leave Ottawa after Canada accused India of being responsible for the death of a Khalistani terrorist. In retaliation, India asked the Canadian ambassador in New Delhi to depart.
