Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashes in Arunachal Pradesh, 1 pilot dead

Near Tamang in Arunachal Pradesh an Indian Army Chopper crashed on Wednesday. A pilot aboard the chopper ‘Cheetah’ was killed in the accident while the other pilot is undergoing treatment, Col Walia said.

Both pilots were evacuated to the nearest military hospital. At the hospital, a badly injured pilot passed away. Another pilot is receiving medical attention. Helicopter crashed at around 10 am.

“With regret, we inform that one of the pilots, Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was critically injured succumbed to the injuries during treatment. The second pilot is under medical treatment. The cause of the crash at this stage is not known. Details are being ascertained,” an official statement read.

The incident took place at Nyamjang Chu, close to the Bap Teng Kang waterfall area of the Jemeithang circle in Tawang district, according to civil administration officials. On a routing sortie, a Cheetah helicopter with two pilots was departing from the Surwa Samba region.
