IT Minister: Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the minister of state for information technology, has refuted a recent report that suggested the government was exploring a new framework to create adequate security requirements for mobile phone users. Citing two individuals and a “government document,” the story stated that the project is a response to worries about the exploitation of data and espionage through pre-installed apps.
Indian Minister Denies Reports of New Mobile Security Framework
Chandrasekhar said, “This story is flatly false.” The minister went on to say that the article is “lacking knowledge” and might be the result of “unrestrained creative imagination.” He claimed that the industry and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) are now in discussions regarding mobile security rules and BIS requirements. The MeitY is “100% dedicated,” according to Chandrasekhar, to boosting the electronics manufacturing industry to $300 billion by 2026.
Lava International President Stresses on User Choice in App Selection
The government’s efforts to stop data exploitation are supported by the mobile phone industry, but they worry that delays in the release of new devices and a decline in pre-installed software sales could result. Lava International President Sunil Raina claimed that the company’s smartphones don’t have bloatware or annoying adverts and provide users with a pure Android experience. Also, he highlighted that users ought to be able to select the apps they use.
