Indian Passport: With exciting news for tourists from 19 countries, including India, Indonesia is poised to make your ideal holiday even more accessible. To promote tourism and accelerate economic growth, the Indonesian government, under the direction of Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno, intends to implement a free visa programme.
Simplifying Visa Access
The goal of Indonesia is to make the visa application process easier for travellers from significant countries including the UK, USA and India. More tourists, more local spending, and a stronger digital economy are anticipated outcomes of this effort.
Economic Impact and Tourist Spending
Prior to the pandemic, travellers to Indonesia typically spent roughly $900. The average cost per tourist has increased to $1,600 according to recent trends. According to Minister Uno, this programme would bring in “quality tourist arrivals” who will remain longer and make a major economic contribution to the area.
Visa Options for Indian Travellers
Indonesia provides many types of tourist visas for Indian tourists based on the length of stay and activities they plan to engage in:
- Type B1 – 30 Days: Allows a stay of up to 30 days, extendable for another 30 days.
- Type D1 (1 Year): Permits multiple entries with stays of up to 60 days per visit.
- Type D1 (2 Years) and Type D1 (5 Years): Similar to the 1-year visa, offering longer validity periods.
