Unemployment Rate In India: Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) figures have been released. The country’s unemployment rate has increased from 6.4 percent in September to 7.8 percent in October 2022. In this, the situation is worse in villages than in urban areas. According to the CMIE data, the highest unemployment has been seen in the state of Haryana, while the unemployment rate in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh is below 1 percent.
According to CMIE data, the unemployment rate in urban areas has come down marginally to 7.2 percent from 7.7 percent. The same has increased from 5.8 percent to 8.04 percent in rural areas in India. The rural unemployment rate stood at 7.7 percent and 7 percent in October 2021 and 2020, respectively.
In the year 2022 October, Haryana had the highest unemployment rate (31.8 percent), followed by Rajasthan (30.7 percent) and Jammu and Kashmir (22.4 percent). The states with the lowest unemployment rates were Madhya Pradesh (0.8 percent), Chhattisgarh (0.9 percent) and Odisha (1.1 percent). It is to be known that before the Corona Pandemic, it was 8.1 percent in October 2019.
Condition of Bihar and Jharkhand
The situation in Bihar and Jharkhand is almost the same. Bihar ranks sixth in the country with an unemployment rate of 14.05 percent, while its neighboring state Jharkhand is ranked 5th with an unemployment rate of 16.5 percent.
Unemployment down in MP-Chhattisgarh
In terms of unemployment rate, according to CMIE data, the condition of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand is better. The unemployment rate is 4.2 in Uttar Pradesh, 6.7 in Delhi and 3.4 percent in Uttarakhand. The best situation is coming in front of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The unemployment rate in both the states is less than 1 percent. The hiring has increased in Kolkata and Mumbai, while in Delhi it has remained stable as compared to October last year.
