Within the next two months, the much awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains will begin service, according to India’s Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. These trains are expected to improve both functionality and aesthetics by fusing cutting-edge technology with a passenger-centric design. By 2029, Indian Railways expects to have deployed about 250 of these sleeper trains.
Cutting-Edge Design and Technology
BEML Ltd. in Bangalore has precisely built the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains to fulfil demanding criteria for both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Everything has been carefully designed to improve the ride, even the interior lights and the front nose cone.
“The Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains prioritise both aesthetic appeal and functionality in their interiors, sleeper berths, and exteriors,” Vaishnaw stated. He highlighted the technical work being finished and said the first train will be running in two months.
Advanced Materials and Safety Features
High-grade Austenitic stainless steel with crashworthy components is used to construct the train’s body, which increases safety. Every material satisfies the EN45545 HL3 grade fire safety requirements by adhering to strict safety standards.
Superior Travel Experience
For long-distance travel, the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains provide a luxurious substitute for the Rajdhani Express, with a top speed of 200 km/h. The trains include best-in-class amenities for passenger comfort and excellent braking technology that guarantee minimal deceleration during full service.
Key features include:
- GFRP Panels: For a durable and aesthetically pleasing interior.
- Automatic Plug Sliding Passenger Doors: For ease of entry and exit.
- Specially Designed Toilets: Accommodations for differently-abled passengers.
- Enhanced Soundproofing: Ensuring a quieter journey.
Passenger Comfort and Capacity
There will be 16 bogies per train, with 1 AC First Class, 4 AC Two-Tier, and 11 AC Three-Tier compartments, holding 823 beds in total. The trainsets come in a range of classes to accommodate various passenger needs and are built on broad gauge (1676 mm).
State-of-the-Art Amenities
Improved, smoother acceleration and deceleration, ergonomic restrooms, an aerodynamic appearance, and a modular pantry are all planned for passengers. The trains will also have state-of-the-art visual information and public address systems to improve the overall riding experience.
