Indo-China border dispute: The External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar reiterated on Friday that the Prime Minister remained “very firm” on the China issue and that he should be judged by the strong deployment of our forces on the Sino-India border and not by his words as the controversy surrounding the Indo-China border standoff grows in response to the opposition’s constant criticism of the government’s response.
The EAM was speaking at a conference. He is frequently praised for his direct and forceful reactions to India’s autonomous foreign policy. He was making reference to the backlash that PM Modi faced following his handshake with Chinese premier Xi Jinping at the G-20 Summit in Indonesia.
When asked how to resolve the China disagreement, it is best to be stern when necessary and avoid needless aggression.

“I don’t agree that PM Modi has postured publicly on China. In fact, the prime minister has remained quite firm in his stance be it in his words or actions. We have taken actions where we had to and we have been clear in our actions. Please understand the efforts that were made from 2020 onwards in maintaining such a large force on our borders. It is an enormous enterprise,” Jaishankar declared.
In reference to the Indo-China crisis, he continued, “If we have to move troops up to the border to deal with what the other side is trying to do, we will do that. On issues where they do not support or undermine our interests, to be frank about it, to be public about it where required. I don’t say public about it all the time but where diplomacy requires it is often useful to be public.”
Following an aggressive altercation in the Pangong lake regions, the Indo-China standoff started on May 5, 2020, along the eastern Ladakh region.
The External Affairs Minister also discussed the need for effective leadership in the globe today, given the numerous difficulties that face us.
Then he said, “The world is facing multiple challenges, yet India appears to be better off and has been acknowledged as a global bright spot by the International Monetary Fund.”

India’s place in the changing global landscape
When asked about India’s place in the changing global landscape, Jaishankar responded that the country, like other countries, will face a number of difficulties along the way but would overcome them thanks to its strong leadership.
Jaishankar also said that because he frequently deals with how other countries view India, he is able to say that those countries do have a greater perspective on India’s accomplishments than perhaps do individuals in India.
