Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the occasion of 7th International Yoga Day 2021 on Monday. The main theme of IDY 2021 is “Yoga for Wellness”, which is aligned to the current pre-occupations. Emphasising the necessity of practising yoga during the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic. PM Modi also prayed for people’s health and well-being all throughout the world.
“Today when the entire world is fighting against Covid-19 pandemic, yoga has become a ray of hope. For two years now, no public event has been organised in India or the world but enthusiasm for Yoga has not gone down,” said PM Modi.
Yoga For Wellness:
“The ‘Yoga For Wellness’ theme on this International Yoga Day has encouraged people even more to perform yoga. I pray that every country, region, and people stay healthy,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of yoga on one’s overall wellbeing, he said,”Yoga shows us the road from stress to strength and from negativity to creativity. Yoga tells us that so many problems might be out there, but we’ve infinite solutions within ourselves. We’re the biggest source of energy in the universe,” PM said in a televised address to the nation.
The Prime Minister also launched a mYoga app that will be available worldwide. “In collaboration with WHO, India has taken another important step. We will be launching the mYoga app which will have yoga training videos in different languages for people across the world. This will help us achieve our ‘One World, One Health’ motto,” he added.

International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21. The UN General Assembly in 2014 overwhelmingly adopted a draft resolution, declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day. A record 177 countries supported the resolution.
