In a series of posts on X, he stated, “As Yoga Day approaches, I am sharing a set of videos that will offer guidance on various Asanas and their benefits. I hope this inspires you all to practice Yoga regularly.”
“As we approach this year’s Yoga Day, it is essential to reiterate our commitment to making Yoga an integral part of our lives and also encouraging others to make it a part of theirs. Yoga offers a sanctuary of calm, enabling us to navigate life’s challenges with calm and fortitude,” PM Modi posted on X.
How International Yoga Day Became a Global Phenomenon
Since 2015, June 21 has been the global date of the International Day of Yoga, which was officially declared in 2014 by the UN General Assembly in response to PM Modi’s initiative to honor the traditional Indian exercise regimen.
Since June 21 is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has particular meaning for many people worldwide, PM Modi suggested it be the date of International Yoga Day in his 2014 speech to the UNGA.
On the lawns of the UN headquarters in New York, PM Modi conducted a unique yoga practice in 2023 to commemorate the ninth International Day of Yoga. Due to the yoga session’s ability to bring together practitioners of most nationalities, it has been inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records.
