Congress: Bengal Congress chairman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury announced on Sunday that the Congress has accepted Nitish Kumar’s invitation for the opposition parties’ meeting in Patna, the state capital of Bihar and the head of the Janata Dal (United). The parties will meet on June 12 at the appointed time. In preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Nitish has been rallying the support of the state governors to take on the incumbent BJP at the federal level.
Internal Differences Threaten Opposition’s United Front
‘The opposition would have a “chance to defeat PM Modi” once they come together,’ according to Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. ‘We have been telling the other opposition parties that from the very beginning. However, not everyone in the opposition shares this opinion. We have several regional parties coming with the Congress that are having issues,’ Chowdhury remarked.
Congress Grants Authority to Assemble Desired Opposition Leaders
Nitish Kumar was given the authority to call the people he desired by Mallikarjun Kharge, the party chairman for the Congress, he said. ‘If the opposition is strong, Modi won’t take back the reins of power. That is why Nitish Ji called. Congress will accept his invitation and go if he does. They will attend if he invites other regional parties, according to the leader of the Bengal Congress. He claimed that whether the parties accept Nitish Kumar’s invitation is up to them.’ He stated that the ‘JD(U) supremo’s invitation for the meeting on June 12 has been approved by the Congress.’ Days after Nitish Kumar met with Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, the head of the Congress, in Delhi, a date was chosen. Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the TMC and the chief minister of West Bengal, will also be there.
