New Delhi: Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Ashraf, who was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Tuesday in Laxmi Nagar, has stated that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan was behind the 2009 Jammu bus stand blast. He has also said that before the 2011 blasts that took place outside the Delhi High Court, he had conducted a recce of the premises, he said. However, it is not clear if he was involved in the blast.
He has also revealed that he tracked the movement of army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir and regularly changed his phone numbers to stay below the radar.
Besides, Ashraf allegedly surveyed other prime spots like India Gate, the old Delhi Police Headquarters, Red Fort and the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Kashmiri Gate and sent details to his Pakistani handlers.
Reportedly, he was also involved in tracking the movements of soldiers and their vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir, the police said.
“Mohammad Ashraf joined the terrorists after his Class 10 exams and was given six months’ training. He lived in India in various places — Ajmer, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Jammu, Udhampur,” Pramod Kushwaha said.
He added, “We had got a tip off that he had reached an advanced stage as he was given the location for weapons. Before he could carry ahead any operation, we arrested him.” The police confirmed that Mohammad Ashraf’s passport was made in 2014. “He has changed at least 5-6 addresses and was using various social media apps to stay in touch with his Pakistan handler. He even made multiple fake identities,” Pramod Kushwaha said.
Reportedly, he has also used his fake password to enter India.
