Jaishankar: The Washington Post and other members of the mainstream American media have come under fire for their “biased” coverage of India, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
“I scan the news. In front of an audience of Indian-Americans from around the nation on Sunday, Jaishankar said, “You know, there are some publications you know precisely what they are going to publish, including one in this town”.
The prestigious Washington Post is a leading American daily that is currently owned by Jeff Bezos of Amazon and is based in Washington, DC.

What Jaishankar stated regarding the anti-India forces?
“My argument is that there are biases and attempts to ascertain,… In response to a query about the rise of anti-Indian elements in this nation, Jaishankar stated, “Look, the more India goes its way and the people who believe that they were the custodians and the shapers of India lose ground in India, the more actually, some of these debaters going to come outside.”
Such organizations “are not winning in India,” he claimed. Such organizations will attempt to win outside of India or attempt to reshape India from outside, the minister noted.
“This is something of which we must be cognizant. It’s crucial to argue against. It’s crucial not to sit back and allow other people define me because most Americans won’t be familiar with the subtleties and intricacies of back home. As a community, I believe that is something that is crucial for us,” he said.
Jaishankar said that if there is a terrorist act, it doesn’t matter what faith the person who is slain belongs to in response to a query about how the Kashmir problem is misrepresented in the capital of the United States.

Who will die if there are kidnapped Indian police officers or soldiers? Who would die if there are government employees or regular residents going about their daily lives?
“How frequently do you hear people mentioning it or even saying it? Take a look at the media coverage. The External Affairs Minister questioned, “What does the media cover and what does the media not cover?

He emphasized that this is how views and perceptions are genuinely formed.
“The Internet is going down is the subject of much song and dance. What can I say if you’ve gotten to the point where you think an Internet outage is more harmful than someone dying? As the audience applauded”, Jaishankar spoke.
“The Article 370-issue, if you look at it. This interim Constitutional clause was finally repealed; it was supposed to be an act of the majority. This was meant to be a majority rule. Tell me, what was going on in Kashmir that wasn’t majority rule. I believe that information is presented in a biassed manner. What is right and wrong are unclear. Politics is actually at play here. We must not abandon it. We ought to challenge it. Education is important. The story should be shaped. It’s a cutthroat world out there. We must spread our messages. I want you to know that,” he said.
“By avoiding these conversations, we are not doing our country, our ideals, or even our sense of right and wrong any favours. I believe that since we all have opinions, we must voice them, inform others of them, and instruct them as to what is right and wrong. I genuinely think that if you take a holistic view of the Jammu and Kashmir situation, it’s mind-boggling. There should actually be people who would think differently about something whose benefits were so evident”, Jaishankar remarked.
