Janmashtami 2023: Janmashtami holds significant importance in Hinduism as it commemorates Lord Shri Krishna’s birth in Mathura. This annual festival falls on the Ashtami Tithi of the Bhadra month, with Krishna Janmashtami 2023 occurring on September 6th. Thousands of devotees come in Mathura to seek darshan (sacred viewing) of Thakur Ji at the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. If you’re planning to visit Vrindavan for Shri Krishna Janmashtami, it’s important to be aware of the changes in temple visitation procedures.
The Banke Bihari Temple, renowned worldwide as a sacred site dedicated to Lord Krishna, attracts a multitude of devotees visiting Vrindavan. This widespread devotion leads to the daily pilgrimage of thousands, patiently waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of Lord Krishna. However, the overwhelming influx of devotees has created chaotic conditions, with some even fainting inside the temple due to overcrowding. Concerned about potential mishaps, the local administration is actively strategising crowd management measures.
Key measures to be introduced for Janmashtami 2023
To enhance the darshan experience at Banke Bihari Temple, the local administration is set to introduce two key measures. Firstly, an advanced online registration system will be implemented to manage the crowd effectively. This proposal, jointly put forth by the temple’s workers and the district administration, is currently in progress. Additionally, to relieve congestion caused by visitors taking photos, selfies, and creating content on their mobile phones, a ban on mobile devices within the temple premises will be enforced.
According to reliable sources, both of these measures are likely to be implemented in the near future. Therefore, if you plan to visit Vrindavan on Janmashtami, it’s advisable to gather complete information beforehand to avoid disappointment in case you are unable to have darshan.
