Prime Minister Narendra Modi was made aware of Hiroshi Suzuki, the ambassador of Japan to India, in a recent tweet about his wife and him trying vada Japan ambassador and misal pav in a restaurant and on the streets of Pune.
In Pune, a video of Suzuki enjoying street cuisine in the Maharashtrian way quickly gained popularity on social media. The envoy, who was in Pune for a function, apparently tasted the vada pav and misal pav, but he only had a tiny complaint: it was too spicy for him.
He posted a video of himself eating the street cuisine on Twitter with the description read, “I love street food of India …but thoda teekha kam please!”
On the advice of his Twitter followers, the Japanese envoy also tasted Pune’s renowned misal pav and tweeted a video of himself devouring the delicacy.
“Because many followers recommended me…! MisalPav,” the envoy posted.
He put out another video on Twitter saying that he wanted a “little less spicy”.
In another video posted on Saturday, Suzuki said, “My wife beat me!”
He received several reactions from netizens for his posts about trying out Indian street food in Pune and the Indian prime minister was one of them.
“This is one contest you may not mind losing, Mr. Ambassador. Good to see you enjoying India’s culinary diversity and also presenting it in such an innovative manner. Keep the videos coming!” Modi tweeted.
