J&K DG Prisons Found Murdered at Home With Slit Throat

Hemant K. Lohia, the Director General (Prisons) for Jammu and Kashmir, was found dead at his Jammu resident on Monday night under suspicious circumstances. His domestic helper is thought to be the main suspect, as per investigations, reported news agency PTI.

The absconding domestic help named Jasir is being sought, according to Director General of Police Dilbag Singh, who described the situation as “absolutely unfortunately.”

According to Singh, the suspect also attempted to set ablaze the body of 57-year-old Lohia, who was appointed Director General of prisons in the Union Territory in August, reported PTI.

According to Mukesh Singh, additional director general of police for the Jammu zone, who visited the residence following the event at Udaiwala on the outskirts of Jammu, the deceased was an IPS officer from the 1992 batch who had burn injuries and had had his throat cut.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the culprit first suffocated Lohia before slitting his neck with a ketchup bottle and attempting to set the body on fire, the police chief claimed, according to PTI.

After seeing fire inside Lohia’s chamber, the guards stationed at the officer’s home learned about the occurrence. According to police commander Dilbag Singh, the door had to be shattered for the guards to go into the room because it was locked from the inside.
