J&K News: Security forces stopped an attempt at infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday by shooting at one terrorist and killing another. Alert soldiers in the district’s Degwar sector spotted several terrorists moving around in the early morning hours as they tried to enter this side under cover of darkness and engaged them in an engagement, according to officials.

Confrontation Erupts as Infiltrators Clash with Indian Forces

Two terrorists who had crossed the Line of Control from the Pakistan side were involved in a gunfire with the security forces during a joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. One terrorist was killed during the battle, while another was shot at as he attempted to flee back to the Line of Control. After being shot at, he was observed to tumble. To find the terrorists’ bodies, a search operation was conducted throughout the neighbourhood. The second terrorist may have been killed or injured, but the first terrorist was shot to death. Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, a defence PRO based in Jammu, claimed that around 2 am, an Army ambush party made touch with terrorists in the Garhi battalion area. “Two individuals were observed moving across the LoC in the general area of Degwar Terva. In the ensuing firefight, one terrorist was seen dropping while the second moved towards Pintu Nala,” the officer said. According to sources, terrorist organisations with ties to Pakistan were preparing to launch a sizable terrorist strike in Jammu and Kashmir before Independence Day. Both the International Border in Jammu & Kashmir and the Line of Control have increased security.

J&K Witnesses Another Clash Along LoC in 24 Hours

In Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a second attempt at infiltration along the Line of Control in the last 24 hours. One terrorist was killed on Sunday after an attempt at infiltration along the LoC in Kupwara area was thwarted by the Indian Army, according to the police. According to a police spokesperson, the police and Army together conducted a cordon and search operation in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara’s Dakhen-Amrohi neighbourhood after receiving intelligence regarding potential infiltration efforts. “During the search operation, the movement of terrorists, trying to infiltrate our side, was observed. They were challenged by the joint party in which one terrorist was neutralised,” he said. Two to three other terrorists were able to flee back to the Pakistani side of the LoC by taking advantage of the dense shrubs and difficult terrain, according to the spokesperson. According to the police spokeswoman, it was thought that the terrorist who was killed was a citizen of Pakistan based on the evidence found at the scene of the encounter. An AK rifle, an AK magazine, 15 AK rounds, 5 9mm pistols, 1 15mm pistol, 8 pistol magazines, and 32 9mm pistol bullets were among the weapons and ammunition seized. “The recovery of these materials underscores the nefarious intentions of the infiltrators and their attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region,” the spokesperson said.
