J&K Police recruitment exam leak: 24 people have been charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for leaking test questions for the Jammu and Kashmir police sub-inspector recruitment exam.
A former commandant of the Border Security Force, an assistant sub-inspector, officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and former members of the Central Reserve Police Force are among those mentioned in the chargesheet (CRPF).
Case was opened on August 3
At the government of Jammu and Kashmir’s request, a case was opened on August 3 of this year to look into claims of anomalies in the written test that the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) administered on March 27 of this year to choose 1,200 sub-inspectors for the Jammu and Kashmir police. The examination’s outcome was announced on June 4.
The inquiry took place across multiple states and involved the examination of numerous witnesses as well as the analysis of extensive technological data. After the complaint was filed, searches were carried out at 77 sites, including those of the accused and SRB employees in Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Delhi, and Bengaluru. Up to 20 persons were detained, and Rs 61.79 lakh in cash was found.
What did the investigation reveal?
In the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Yatin Yadav, a resident of Rewari in Haryana, had planned the scheme to leak the test questions for the J&K police sub-inspector recruitment exam. An employee at a printing plant named Pradip Kumar Katiyar participated in the plot by stealing the exam’s question paper and giving it to Yadav.
In the meantime, Yadav made contact with a few persons to find those who could be interested in purchasing the test questions. These individuals were given the leaked exam paper, and they were then brought to Karnal where they exchanged the question papers for cash.
A handful of the accused set up the distribution of stolen exam materials to aspirants in Gangyal, Jammu. Additionally, it was claimed that the accused disseminated the stolen exam materials at the home of a doctor, whose name appears in the chargesheet.
Many of the defendants identified in the chargesheet are being held in court remand while some are being held in police custody.
