Bhartiya Janata Party general secretary, Ashok Kaul on Monday said that the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir can be possible if the selective killings will stop here.
As per Kashmir News Service (KNS), talking to reporters on the sidelines of a party meeting in Bandipora, Kaul said that restoration of statehood has been promised by the PM and HM on the floor of the parliament. “But it will be restored only after the situation gets normal in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Kaul said that when a common man feels safe and lives without fear in J&K ,then definitely statehood would be granted to Jammu and Kashmir.
“Prime minister and home minister have stated on the floor of the parliament that statehood will be restored. As and when the situation in J&K is normalised, selective killings are stopped and a common man can move around freely, statehood will be restored,” Koul said.
He said that the J&K Delimitation Commission was “due to submit its report before March 6 and based on the report 90 seats will go to polls immediately after the commission files the report”.
Reacting to the recent civilian killings in Kashmir, Koul said the killings were the “BJP’s biggest concern as people who are associated with the party were being killed”.
“BJP is against all these selective killings as no religion allows such cowardly act.”
To a question on the conduct of the assembly elections, BJP leader Koul said the polls will be held soon after the delimitation commission submits its report.
“The delimitation commission has a time till March 6 (next year). When the commission submits its report under which 90 seats will be delimited, the elections will be followed soon after, he said.
