Kangana Ranaut: The family of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has taken issue with actor and BJP contestant Kangana Ranaut’s statement that “Netaji was the first Prime Minister of India.” Chandra Kumar Bose, the grand nephew of Subhas Chandra Bose, shared a news piece on X and stated, “No one should distort history for their political desire.”
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose
“Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was a political thinker, soldier, statesman, visionary and the 1st PM of undivided India. The only leader who could unite all communities as Bharatiyas to fight for India’s freedom. Real respect to the leader would be to follow his inclusive ideology,” Chandra Kumar Bose said in another post.
Chandra Kumar Bose’s Departure from BJP
Notably, in September of last year, Chandra Kumar Bose announced his resignation from the BJP, citing a difference in values between the party and himself. He had resigned in the midst of the India-Bharat dispute. His comments followed Kangana Ranaut‘s social media backlash against trolls for her remarks regarding Netaji. Ranaut is the BJP’s nominee for Lok Sabha from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
Kangana Ranaut advised people who were making fun of her to study the historical account after she shared a screenshot of a news article on X. According to the article, Netaji established the Azad Hind government in Singapore in 1943 and proclaimed himself the country’s first prime minister.
Viral Video Stirring Controversy
When a video of the 37-year-old actor-turned-politician referred to Netaji as India’s first prime minister went viral, it set off the trolls. “If I speak way ahead of your IQ you assume I must be uninformed, well the joke is on you and it’s a lame one!! (yawn),” she tweeted.
Kangana Ranaut came under fire from several opposition leaders for her remarks. Without mentioning her, BRS politician and the son of the former Telangana chief minister, KT Rama Rao, made fun of the BJP candidate on X.
“One BJP candidate from North says Subash Chandra Bose was our first PM !! And another BJP leader from South says Mahatma Gandhi was our PM !! Where did all these people graduate from?” he tweeted.
