Kanjhawala Case: On Tuesday, Delhi Police filed murder charges against the suspects in the Kanjhwala hit-and-run case. One of the seven defendants was granted bail by Delhi’s Rohini Court on Tuesday after one of the defendants was given a 14-day judicial detention order on January 9.
Accused charged with the case of murder
The case relates to the death of 20-year-old Anjali, who passed away on January 1 after being struck by a car driven by the accused while riding her scooter. From Sultanpuri in Delhi to Kanjhawala, she was carried by the automobile about 12 kilometres. Delhi Police states, “After the collection of oral, physical, forensic and other scientific evidence, the police added Section 302 of IPC, in place of Section 304 of IPC.”
Murder accusations are brought against an accused under Section 302, whereas Section 304 of the IPC covers culpable homicide. The accused knew that Anjali was trapped under the car, Delhi Police informed the court during the hearing on January 9. The accused nevertheless kept on driving.
Delhi Police needs to prove it as a murder
The police informed the court on Monday that they will charge the men with murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code since they were aware of the tragedy. Two of the suspects who stepped out of the car and spotted the girl, according to the police, have been identified. However, the names of the accused were kept a secret.
From this point on, the police will need to establish a murder case. Anjali’s death was caused by the Delhi Police having malicious intentions, which they will have to demonstrate in the lawsuit. The two cars (their automobile and Anjali’s two-wheeler) collided, causing Anjali to become stuck inside and be dragged to her death, according to Delhi Police’s account of the tragedy.
