Kapil Sibal: Since the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results for 2024, the political climate has heated up. There are still meetings in progress. But for the third time, the Indian people have granted the NDA a landslide majority. On June 9, 2024, Narendra Modi is expected to take the oath of office as prime minister. Meanwhile, there has been a resurgence of the Agniveer Yojana and UCC controversy. Senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has retaliated over JDU spokesperson KC Tyagi’s remarks.

KC Tyagi Acknowledges Voter Discontent with Agniveer Scheme

Senior JDU leader KC Tyagi responded, “A section of voters is unhappy with the Agniveer scheme,” when questioned about the Agniveer scheme and UCC during a media interaction. Our party desires a thorough discussion and elimination of the flaws that the public has brought to light.

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal responded to JDU spokesperson KC Tyagi’s remarks regarding the Agniveer Yojana by saying, “I think elections have had a great impact on the Agniveer scenario, especially in Uttar Pradesh and some other states. Many people are unhappy with this scheme.” Sibal further suggested that the “merciful God” should consider this and have a discussion about it.

Akhilesh Yadav Calls for Abolition of Agniveer System

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav says, “I think the Agniveer system should be abolished immediately. The government should accept that it has made a mistake, it should not have implemented the Agniveer system.” After defeating incumbent BJP MP Subrat Pathak by over a lakh votes in the Lok Sabha election, Akhilesh regained the bastion of the Yadav family in Kannauj with 6,42,292 votes. Notably, party activists who preferred Akhilesh Yadav to run from the seat disapproved of Tej Pratap Yadav’s earlier allocation of a ticket to run in the Lok Sabha elections from the Kannauj constituency.
