Kashmir Conflict: The entire Kashmir imbroglio was the manifestation of Jinnah and his cohorts in British Indian army veteran forces. The erstwhile ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh had two options during India’s Independence, either to merge with India or the newly formed Pakistan or remain as an independent state. Maharaja Hari Singh opted for the latter.
However, in the same year, Jammu and Kashmir were invaded by Pakistan under a covert conspiracy hatched by Jinnah. Several hordes consisting of tribals from North-West Frontier Province, serving officers and soldiers of the Pakistan army, veterans of the British army as well as deserters of J&K State Forces, invaded the State of J&K starting from the night of 08/09 October 1947. The Kashmir Valley was invaded on 22 October 1947. Operating in line with the British plan, code-named ‘Operation Gulmarg’, those 10,000 men forming such hordes had plans to annexe the entire Jammu and Kashmir. The invaders occupied a chunk of the state before India could launch a counterattack. The region today is known as POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir). But the UN refers to it as Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) and the Pakistani establishment calls it ‘Azad Kashmir’ to further their agenda. While India has categorically maintained that it is an internal issue, the global community keeps raking up the issue at their whims and fancies.
Germany sides with Pakistan
Recently, during a press conference alongside Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Germany’s foreign minister Annalena Baerbock called for the engagement of the UN regarding Kashmir. She asserted that “Germany too has a role and responsibility with regard to the situation in Kashmir. Therefore, we support intensively the engagement of the United Nations to find a peaceful solution in the region.”
Should India support Bavaria’s secession from Germany?
Similarly, should ‘India be the voice of the Bavarians? Bavaria, the wealthy southern state comprises roughly one-fifth of Germany’s landmass. It is the country’s second-most populous state. The wealthy Bavarians have been fighting for a plebiscite for a long.
Bavarians claim they have nothing to do with Germany. The state is home to a pro-independence Bavaria Party, and a Bavarian man even filed a court case last year in an attempt to force a referendum on whether the state could vote to leave Germany. The Bavaria Party posted on Facebook that the “struggle for Bavarian independence” would be decided not by a court but “by the will of the Bavarian people”
“Bavaria Can Also Go It Alone,” a book by a CSU-linked journalist, was published in 2012. The book argued that Bavaria’s powerful economic and political status mean it should be independent “Maps are not set in stone for eternity,” “Who would have imagined, 25 years ago, that there would soon be a free Latvia, a free Estonia and a free Lithuania?”
Meanwhile, the German statement was in response to Zardari’s plea that peace inside South Asia would not be possible without the peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute under the UN resolutions. Now, Germany, a country having a history of running genocide against Jews is lecturing India. Wish it knew that India is not its colony.
Germany gets chided by India
India, however, has strongly rejected the preposterous observations made by Germany. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has asked the European nation to first address the problem of terrorism that emanates from Pakistan rather than a dispute that has been created deliberately.
United Nations Security Council and the Financial Action Task Force “are still pursuing Pakistan-based terrorists involved in the horrific 26/11 attacks” was candidly reminded by India to the Berlin Government.
“When states do not recognize such dangers, either because of self-interest or indifference, they undermine the cause of peace, not promote it. They also do grave injustice to the victims of terrorism.” India strongly retorted to Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s statement on Germany’s role in peace.
America’s unblemished love for Pakistan Vis-à-vis love-hate relation with India
Country-to-country relations and commitments are not permanent and change according to changing interests. After realizing the futility of cajoling China, the Pakistani establishment went back to its original ringmaster, the US. In return, the weakened Biden administration is trying to prove that America’s love affair with Pakistan, although, did take a blip during Trump, in the larger picture, it remains unblemished.
US ambassador in POK
Donald Blome, the US ambassador to Pakistan recent visit to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) was a signal of the intent of America, otherwise, the US ambassador would not have dared to antagonize India by terming Pakistan’s forced occupation as AJK (Azad Jammu & Kashmir)
Quoting Blome the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad tweeted, “The Quaid-e-Azam Memorial Dak Bungalow symbolizes the cultural and historical richness of Pakistan and was famously visited by Jinnah in 1944. I’m honoured to visit during my first trip to AJK.”
AJK reference and history behind it
In October 1947, when the Indian government was caught napping, Pakistan forcibly occupied a part of Kashmir, since then both India and Pakistan use separate terminologies for the region. India rightly terms it Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) while Pakistan’s propaganda machine tries to shield its incursion by terming it Azad Kashmir. While using the term Azad Kashmir, America has once again tried to rake up the issue of Kashmir through its various half-truth machines and allies.
Biden’s foolhardy game plan – the US tilting away from India and moving towards Pak is less pragmatic and more childish
The American tilt towards Pakistan is easy to decode. After a haphazard life-saving evacuation from Afghanistan, Biden is trying to stay relevant in the region. By doing this their initial aim was to counter China’s rise. That is why they tried to cajole India, initially, since India is the only country which can publish an encyclopaedia on the topic, “how to counter China”.
On the contrary, India has stoutly proved itself a diplomatically independent nation, by refusing to listen to America during the Ukraine-Russia crisis. India’s stoic silence on the issue of various sanctions on Russia irked Uncle Sam to a great extent, who has of late proved to be an utter disaster on domestic matters.
Additionally, India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has been on an exposing spree on the global stage. Initially, he was not much interested in bringing out American dirt with respect to Pakistan and only focussed on its hypocrisy in Ukraine-Russia.
In June this year, Jaishankar categorically said that America is the one which is responsible for terrorism in the Asian continent. Recalling how the United States funded the Pakistani terror establishment for the anti-Soviet war, Jaishankar had said, “a lot of India’s problems with Pakistan are directly attributable to the support that the United State gave to Pakistan.”
The cross-border terrorism that was started by Pakistan in September-October 1947 continues with the tacit support of the West.
The recent raking-up of the Kashmir issue by the West will have very few takers, and their molly-coddling with Pakistan did not last long. It is only when the ‘Cat is not able to catch the mice it will scratch the pillar in frustration’
Shockingly I was not expecting so fast a turn-around and that too 360 degree – within a day the ‘Cat’ has come up with a very acerbic but discerning statement “Pakistan is the most dangerous country on the earth”. Sense prevails but should sustain for a longer period.
