Kathua Terror Attack: Terrorists assaulted a military convoy in the isolated Machedi region of Jammu and Kashmir‘s Kathua district on Monday afternoon, resulting in five Army men being killed and six wounded. Sources claim that Pakistani militants carried out the attack on army trucks in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, using advanced weaponry to maximize losses.
Grenades and Gunfire in the Isolated Region
The incident happened in Badnota hamlet, which has inadequate road connectivity and limits vehicle speeds to 10 to 15 km/h, according to sources. The terrain appeared to be exploited by the terrorists, since the army trucks moved quite slowly. Security personnel replied after the terrorists launched a grenade and opened fire in the initial attack, but the militants reportedly withdrew into the neighboring woodland.
Subsequently, search and rescue forces were dispatched to locate the terrorists. According to officials, there is sporadic gunfire between security troops and militants. The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, stated that tough action is required in response to the ongoing terrorist assaults rather than “hollow speeches and false promises”.
