Kerala Government Moves Against Governor Arif Mohammad Khan Amid Verbal Battle

Kerala: After days of growing conflict, Kerala’s Left-led government resolved today to oust Governor Arif Mohammad Khan from his position as chancellor of universities.

What led to this action?

The cabinet of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan decided to introduce an ordinance or special order to remove the Governor. The action was taken in response to Mr. Khan’s request for resignation of the vice chancellors of the state’s nine institutions.

Who will replace the Governor as the Chancellor?

The state cabinet intends to replace the Chancellor with an expert.
