Kiran Bedi Highlights the Impact of Police Retraining
On This Former LG of Puducherry and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi says, “The biggest benefit I see from this is that it is leading to re-training of police for accountability, transparency, technology, victims’ rights, speedy trials in courts, accused’s rights…” She said, “The biggest benefit I see is that police is being retrained. Millions are being retrained and will continue to be retrained. We used to do periodic training. Now we are doing wholesale training.”
She added, “For transparency, accountability, technology, victim’s rights, women victims, and for speedy trial in courts. So many things are being corrected through the judgment of the Supreme Court and Honorable High Courts. Or through piecemeal amendments. That has now become a part of the law. But what I see the most is the revolution of technology. Because FIR will be done for technology.”
Innovative Chart Sheet and Trial Technologies
According to Kiran, “Chart sheet technology, trial technology, expert evidence technology. We used to call doctors and experts. We used to call retired police experts. You can provide evidence online. So, there is no need to come and go. They have also fixed the dates for the trial. In the courts, they do not talk about the dates. What is the correction for the dates? If a magistrate or judicial magistrate does not leave the magistrate the next day, it does not mean that the judge is not in the court. There will be a link magistrate.”
