Kolkata Protest Viral Video: In a dramatic turn of events, Kolkata witnessed pitched battles on Tuesday as hundreds of students and activists laid siege to the West Bengal state secretariat, Nabanna, demanding justice for the family of the victim in the rape and murder case at RG Kar Hospital. In what had been billed as a ‘Nabanna March,’ the agitated youths alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has failed to provide the women with the promised security they were demanding through the earlier protests against similar incidents of crime.

Organised by the student outfit Chhatra Samaj, along with the state government employees’ Sangrami Joutha Manch, it began at College Square in North Kolkata, and another one starting from Santragachhi in Howrah marched towards the secretariat. The protesters were largely demanding that Chief Minister Banerjee resign, who they have blamed for the heinous crime that has sent tremors across the city.

Close to the secretariat, however, they were heavily resisted by the police. Law enforcers used tear gas shells, water cannon, and lathi charge to disperse the crowd. It turned quite chaotic at the time the police tried to tame the surging crowds; tension escalated.

The Elderly Protester’s Defiant Stance

In the middle of all this chaos, a touching and symbolic affair came into play. Among thousands of protesting people in the garb of saffron, this one man stood out with the Indian tricolor in his hand. In this Kolkata Protest Viral Video we cen see he made attempts to march towards Howrah Bridge and was welcomed with water by the police. The old man refused to resign and showed rebellion with his gestures. Kolkata Protest Viral Video has been posted by NDTV which has been shared by Megh Updates on Twitter.

There was a lot conveyed by that quiet protest: an aging protester who refused to be forced away by police was pushed back, yet he remained in his spot. He invited the police to pour more water on him, as though beseeching them to make him wet a little more-an action that said so much about his spirit. And these actions that were captured on video clearly showed the determination of him and the broad sentiment of the protesters demanding accountability from the state government.

Police Response and Protest Escalation

The Nabanna March was triggered by outrage after the RG Kar Hospital incident, during which an incident of barbaric rape and murder was committed against a doctor. The demonstrators stated that this was an incidence that repeatedly took place due to serious lapses in the system to provide safety for women, and that it was an insult to women.

The frustration of the protesters was evident; a number expressed their anger against the incumbent administration. “Whatever happens, we will reach Nabanna,” one among them said under the heavy police force. “We have to reach the state secretariat demanding the resignation of the chief minister, whose administration is trying to protect those responsible for this heinous crime and suppress the incident.”

The ultra-fast developments at the flashpoint, which caught action between agitating students and the police force, have clearly exposed the deepening crisis in West Bengal through which the demand for justice and accountability has stood against the government’s move on ensuring law and order. With the situation remaining extremely volatile, the protest has pointed to the urgent need for a reevaluation of the security measures and administrative responses toward such serious incidents.
