In view of the ‘rail roko’ agitation organised by farmers demanding the dismissal and arrest of Union Minister Ajay Misra in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, prohibition orders banning the gathering of people (Section 144) were imposed in Lucknow on Monday.
The Lucknow Police Commissioner stated in an order that anyone who engage in anti-national activity would face severe consequences. In Lucknow, cops were stationed outside the homes of agricultural union officials.
If someone attempted to disrupt normalcy, Lucknow Police claimed they would use the stringent National Security Act (NSA).
In a statement, the umbrella body of farmer unions spearheading the farmers’ agitation against the Centre’s three agri laws, said “protests will only be intensified until justice is secured” in the Lakhimpur Kheri case.

The SKM said during the ‘rail roko’ protest, all train traffic will be stopped for six hours from 10 am till 4 pm on Monday.

Eight persons including 4 farmers were killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri after a convoy of three SUVs, including one owned by Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, hit a group of farmer protesters leading to a clash.
