Delhi Flood: While this year’s monsoon offered reprieve from the sweltering heat, certain regions, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the nation’s capital Delhi, took the brunt of torrential downpours that led to rivers overflowing and flooding in a couple of days. Following days of intense rain, the Yamuna overflowed its banks, flooding parts of Delhi and forcing thousands of people to leave low-lying regions. The effects of the constant rain have been most severe in Himachal Pradesh and Assam, while hill states have reported dramatic images of landslides, infrastructure destruction, and other disasters.
