LK Advani Emotional! Expresses Gratitude for ‘Bharat Ratna’

LK Advani conveyed his appreciation for receiving the Bharat Ratna on Saturday. On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi declared that the BJP veteran would get the Bharat Ratna. The BJP veteran added, “With the utmost humility and gratitude, I accept the Bharat Ratna that has been conferred on me today,” referring to it as a “honour” for his beliefs and convictions. It is an honour for me personally as well as for the values and ideas I have worked hard to uphold throughout my life.”

Gratitude to Prime Minister and President

Advani expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu for awarding him the Bharat Ratna. “I also express my deepest feelings for all members of my family, especially my dear departed wife Kamla. They have been the greatest source of strength and sustainance in my life,” he said.

“Ever since I joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as its volunteer at the age of 14, I have sought reward in only thing – in dedicated and selfless service of my beloved country in whatever task life assigned to me,” he said. “Today I gratefully remember two persons with whom I had the honour of working closely – Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” Advani said.

Acknowledgment to Swayamsevaks and Party Workers

He also conveyed his appreciation to the swayamsevaks and party workers. From 2002 to 2004, Lal Krishna Advani was India’s seventh deputy prime minister. He is a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and one of the BJP’s co-founders. In the Lok Sabha, Advani has held the positions of Leader of the Opposition and Minister of Home Affairs for the longest periods of time. In the 2009 general election, he ran as the BJP’s nominee for prime minister.
