Lockdown should be the last option, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to nation.
Prime Minister said that he interacted with top vaccine makers of the country. In the meeting, the Prime Minister urged the vaccine manufacturer to continuously scale up their productivity. Prime Minister also emphasized the fact that from the 1st of May, all adults can take the shot of the COVID vaccine.
Speaking on the shortage of oxygen PM Modi said, “We are working on this speedily. The Centre, the state governments, and the private sector, all are committed to ensuring that every needy person gets oxygen in time.”
PM Modi also thanked all doctors, medical staff, paramedical staff, ambulance drivers, security forces, and police for their continuous services during the pandemic. “You all have put your lives at stake to save others,” he said.
“I express my condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones due to Covid-19. Just like a member of your family, I am with you in this hour of sadness. The battle is long and difficult, but we have to overcome it together with our dedication and courage,” PM Modi said.
“The country is today fighting a very big battle against Covid-19. The situation had improved for a while, but the second covid-19 wave has come like a storm,” PM Modi.
He also urged all the states to consider lockdowns only as the last option and focus creating on micro containment zones.
He also called all the youths of India to form small committees and help in COVID administration in their areas and help to maintain the containment zones.
