Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting in the 2024 Lok Sabha election has started in its sixth round for 58 seats spread over seven states and one Union Territory (UT). There is just one phase of voting for Delhi and Haryana. Elections to the Lok Sabha and Assembly are happening in Odisha at the same time.
West Bengal Leads with Over 52% Turnout
There was a 49.2% voter turnout up until 3pm. West Bengal had the greatest voter turnout in Phase 6—more than 52%—while Delhi had the lowest—just 34.4%. 486 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats will have had elections by today’s end.
Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Haryana, and Haryana will all finish voting. Due to a heatwave affecting northern India, the Election Commission has instructed poll workers and authorities to take appropriate action to lessen the effects of rising temperatures in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Key Seats in Phase 6
Voters in eight seats each in Bihar and Bengal, seven in Delhi, ten in Haryana, four in Jharkhand, fourteen in Uttar Pradesh, and the final seat in Jammu & Kashmir—Anantnag-Rajouri—where polling was moved from the third to the sixth phase—will cast their ballots in the following seven states and one union territory.
The national capital’s New Delhi, North East, North West, and Chandni Chowk, as well as Sultanpur and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, are a few of the crucial seats in this phase. Other important seats are Anantnag-Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, Tamluk and Medinipur in West Bengal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, and Rohtak in Haryana, and Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Sambalpur in Odisha.
