Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is being “mentally tortured” in jai, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said on Sunday. Manish Sisodia was arrested a week ago by Central Bureau of India (CBI) in an alleged excise policy scam.
‘They are torturing’ Manish Sisodia
In a press conference today, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the jailed AAP leader is being forced to make false confession. “Manish Sisodia ji stated this in the CBI Trial Court yesterday. This had also been brought to the attention of the court. Because the CBI lacks evidence, they are torturing,” he said.
Manish Sisodia’s custody was extended by two days so that he could be confronted with material witnesses. Manish Sisodia, who was presented before the court after his five-day custody expired, had told the court that that it is ‘mental harassment’.
“They are not using the third degree. But, sitting for eight to nine hours and answering the same questions over and again is also considered mental harassment,” Sisodia stated. The court has now asked CBI to not ask the AAP leader same questions over and over again.
Manish Sisodia moves Delhi HC
The SC bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha said that someone cannot come to the apex court directly as the person has his/her remedies before the trial court concerned as well as the Delhi High Court.
