Girish Chandra Murmu is now been appointed as the new Comptroller and Auditor General of India by replacing Rajiv Mehrishi who’s term as CAG has now been ended. Earlier GC Murmu had resigned from his post of Lieutenant-Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. His resignation came in as a surprise because that day is marked as the first anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
He will take the charge as the new Comptroller and Auditor General of India today. He was also the Expenditure Secretary in the Union Ministry of Finance and the leader of the drafting committee of the development package announced by the PM Narendra Modi in 2015
On the other hand, Manoj Sinha who was assigned as the new Lieutenant-Governor of the Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir will also take the charge today. Manoj Sinha is in Srinagar since yesterday and his addition in J&K as an L-G is the rising hopes for the betterment of the situations in the Union Territory.
Manoj Sinha’s long political history
Manoj Sinha is an experienced BJP member who has worked for the backward areas in UP. That was another reason for the center for choosing him for the vacant post in Jammu and Kashmir. His term with the J & K is also considered as the silver lining in the dark sky of the valley. He is an aggressive and successful leader of the ruling party of the nation.
In 1996 was the first time Sinha was elected as the MLA and then he repeated his term in 1999. He began his political career in 1982 when he became the president of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Students Union. He remained a member of the BJP national council from 1989 to 1996. In 2014 he was chosen in the Lower House yet again for the third time when BJP came into the power after crushing their opposition in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Manoj Sinha has also been the Minister of State for Railways and later on, he took charge of the Ministry of Communication as well.
