Massive Avalanche In Kashmir’s Sonmarg, Watch Video

There was a snow storm in Sonamarg of Jammu and Kashmir. Sonamarg is a popular hill station in Jammu and Kashmir, where an avalanche occurred near the Baltal area. Video footage of the incident has come to the fore, in which the avalanche can be clearly seen. There is news of many people coming in the grip of disaster.

According to the information, due to fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of the Kashmir Valley, the temperature dropped significantly in the entire Kashmir last night. After that avalanche conditions developed near Baltal area in Sonamarg. The place where the avalanche occurred on Thursday, January 12, is in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir. An avalanche can be clearly seen in a video.

Worker’s dead body recovered, rescue operation underway

A laborer lost his life after being hit by an avalanche on Thursday morning. His body has been removed from the debris. Right now rescue work is going on in the area. According to news agency PTI, avalanches were reported twice in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking about the weather, the minimum temperature in Gulmarg of Baramulla district was recorded below minus 3 degree Celsius yesterday. Similarly, the minimum temperature in Srinagar was around 3 degree Celsius, while Qazigund, the gateway to the valley, recorded a minimum of 1.6 degree Celsius. Similarly, the tourist destination Pahalgam in Anantnag district recorded minus 0.3 degree Celsius.

Kashmir in grip of ‘Chillai Kalan’

At present, Kashmir is in the grip of ‘Chillai Kalan’. Chillai Kalan is the 40-day period with the highest chance of snowfall. Here ‘Chillai Kalan’ starts on 21st December and ends on 30th January. However, the cold wave continues even after that. After ‘Chillai Kalan’, there is a period of ‘Chillai Khurd’ for 20 days and then ‘Chillai Bachha’ for 10 days.
