Accompanied by another individual, he was subsequently handed over to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. The arrest comes following a well-coordinated operation to apprehend the key accused in the Parliament security breach incident.
Charges and Investigation
Four individuals, including Jha, have been charged with terrorism under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for their involvement in the security breach. The charges encompass a range of offenses, from terrorist acts to criminal conspiracy and obstruction of public servants. The Delhi Police Special Cell is actively conducting an interrogation, revealing that Jha allegedly shared a video of the attack via WhatsApp. Notably, no mobile phone was recovered from Jha, raising suspicions that he may have destroyed the phones of the other accused.
Motives and Political Fallout
The motive behind the attack, as revealed during police interrogation, points to a shared ideology among the accused. Expressing discontent with issues such as the farmers protest, ethnic conflicts, and unemployment, they aimed to send a message to the government and draw national attention. The incident caused a significant uproar in both houses of Parliament, leading to the suspension of 14 opposition MPs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the sensitivity of the matter, urged ministerial colleagues to avoid political squabbling and expressed confidence in corrective measures by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
