MCD Elections: Know about Contractual Sanitation worker, Jitender Kumar and his agenda

MCD Elections: Jitender Kumar, a sanitation worker at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the city, is running in the municipal elections from the Lado Sarai ward in south Delhi. He has pledged to fight for the safety of sanitation workers in the national Capital and to ensure that they receive adequate compensation in the event of workplace accidents.

Kumar’s statement

In his speech during the campaign for the December 4 elections, Kumar said, “This election is a fight for us to demand our rights. If elected to power, I will improve the livelihood of sanitation workers by providing them equal pay for equal work. I want to ensure that workers are provided adequate safety gear and equipment for their strenuous jobs.” 
As a candidate for the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Kumar is running in the Delhi MCD elections.

Based on his demands for equal and prompt compensation for sanitation workers and better working conditions for frontline employees, he is running for office.

The CPI (ML) has made commitments in its platform addressing the regularisation of all contract employees, rights to a place to live, access to water, and other public facilities.

According to Kumar, the election is a battle for the rights that sanitation employees are requesting

“This election is a fight for us to demand our rights. If elected to power, I will improve the livelihoods of sanitation workers by providing them equal pay for equal work. I would want to ensure that workers are provided with adequate safety gear and equipment for their strenuous jobs.”

Elections for the Delhi MCD will be held on December 4, and results will be counted on December 7.

With 181 seats in the 272-member MCD, the BJP has won the previous four MCD elections.
