On the 23rd of December, Army Chief General MM Narvane visited various high-altitude areas in eastern Ladakh and reviewed India’s overall military preparedness.
The army said that General Narvane visited the forward posts and areas of eastern Ladakh, including Richin La, along the Line of Control and took stock of the current situation along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh.
About 50,000 personnel of the Indian Army are deployed in zero degree temperatures in various mountainous areas of eastern Ladakh and high altitude places, which are able to respond quickly in the event of war.

On this occasion, Lt Gen PGK Menon, the commander of the 14th Corps Command at Leh, known as the ‘Fire and Fury’ Corps, briefed the Army Chief on various aspects of the situation in East Ladakh.
The main purpose of his visit was to take stock of the situation in the area amid the harsh winter.

In this meeting it was agreed that the next round of military talks should be held on the scheduled date as soon as possible so that both sides could work to complete the process of reversing the troops of the existing bilateral agreements and protocol.
India and China have held several rounds of talks at the diplomatic and military level in the last months to overcome this deadlock, but the solution has not been reached.
He praised the move to establish comfortable accommodation for the soldiers on LAC. The Army said that the Chief of Army Staff also visited Tara, an advanced hideout and spoke to the local commanders and soldiers.
