Severe Monsoon Rains Wreak Havoc Across India: IMD Alerts Issued for Multiple States Including Rajasthan

Monsoon Alert: Rain is causing extensive disruptions in many Indian states, from the plains to the mountains. The constant rain is posing serious issues for a lot of individuals. Over 300 people have died in Kerala as a result of landslides. Meanwhile, some individuals have died as a result of cloudbursts in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, and several remain unaccounted for. There are still rescue and relief efforts underway. A cloudburst that struck the Cherwan Kangan area in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on the evening of August 3 caused significant issues for the local public.

Sudden Floods from Cloudburst in J&K

The cloudburst in the Cherwan Kangan area of Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, caused sudden floods. Paddy fields were damaged, several vehicles were trapped in debris, and water entered residential areas. So far, there have been no reports of casualties. However, the sudden flood has led to the closure of the Srinagar National Highway.

Intensified Rescue Operations in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

In Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, over 25 people have died due to cloudbursts. In Himachal Pradesh alone, nine people have lost their lives, with 45 people still missing. In Uttarakhand, more than 15 people have died. The army, NDRF, and SDRF are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations.

IMD Issues Weather Alerts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Palghar, Pune, and Satara in Maharashtra for August 4. A heavy rain alert has also been issued for Mumbai, which has previously experienced severe waterlogging due to heavy rains. Additionally, the IMD has issued heavy rain alerts for Uttarakhand, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

Weather Forecast for UP and Delhi

Over the following three days, Delhi-NCR’s weather will change, providing a reprieve from the humidity. A new rainy phase has started in Delhi, according to the Meteorological Department (IMD), with moderate rainfall predicted for August 6–8. There is an alert in effect for this time frame. In the meantime, Uttar Pradesh may also get four days of nonstop rain.

Weather Forecast for Punjab and Haryana

Punjab is experiencing a temperature of 37.79°C on August 4, 2024. The day’s low and high temperatures are predicted to be 31.37°C and 38.08°C, respectively. In the coming days till August 7, heavy showers are predicted for Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh.
