Mission Operations Complex Abuzz as Chandrayaan 3 Progresses
“Smooth sailing is continuing. The Mission Operations Complex (MOX) is buzzed with energy & excitement!” ISRO said in a post on X. According to ISRO, the pictures of the moon were taken on August 19 by the lander position detection camera (LPDC) at a distance of around 70 km. “LPDC images assist the Lander Module in determining its position (latitude and longitude) by matching them against an onboard moon reference map”, ISRO stated.
Vikram Lander’s Soft Moon Landing at South Pole Nears
On Wednesday, the Vikram lander is anticipated to make a soft touchdown on the south pole of the moon. The final 20 minutes before the gentle landing, in the opinion of the experts, are extremely important. The landing will be programmed by the ISRO mission scientists a day beforehand. Last Thursday, the ‘Vikram’ lander had successfully disengaged from the propulsion module. It underwent two important deboosting missions and lowered its orbit.
