More than 1.40 lakh kg drugs worth Rs 2,381 crore destroyed: Amit Shah

A big step will be taken on Monday as part of the campaign against drugs. Under this, a total of 1.44 lakh kg of drugs will be destroyed in many areas of the country. During this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be present. They will be a part of this program through virtual medium. According to the information, the work of destroying drugs will be done in many cities of the country, which will be seen on TV from Amit Shah during the Ayoti Conference on ‘Drug Trafficking and National Security’.

The narcotics to be destroyed include 6,590 kg of drugs seized in an operation by the Hyderabad unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Apart from this, 822 kg of drugs seized in Indore unit’s operation and 356 kg of drugs seized by Jammu unit will also be destroyed tomorrow.

Seized more than 11 times the target

In a statement related to the case, it was told that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against drugs to create a drug-free India. From June 1, 2022 to July 15, 2023, all field units of NCB and state agencies have destroyed approximately 8,76,554 kg of seized drugs valued at approximately Rs 9,580 crore. This is more than 11 times the target set.

About 10 lakh kg of drugs were destroyed

Only after Monday, the total quantity of drugs destroyed in just one year will reach about 10 lakh kg. Their total cost will be around Rs 12,000 crore. It has been said in the statement that this campaign of drug eradication will continue actively with the same enthusiasm to make Prime Minister Modi’s dream of drug free India come true.
