Acid attacks in India: The Indian government is always attempting to strengthen the existing laws to address egregious crimes like acid assaults throughout the nation, yet the number of such cases keeps rising.
The most recent statistics made public by Crime of India indicates that 659 occurrences of acid attacks were reported between 2018 and 2020.
With a total of 160 cases, the state of West Bengal came in first, followed by the states of Uttar Pradesh with 115 cases and Odisha with 35 cases.

Following these states throughout the three years from 2018 to 2020 were Madhya Pradesh (34 cases), Bihar (30 cases), Punjab (29 cases), Gujarat (27 cases), Kerala (27 cases), and Delhi (23 cases).

Stated where no reported occurrences of acid attacks
According to sources from Crime in India, there were no reported occurrences of acid attacks in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim over the three-year period from 2018 to 2020.
Andaman and Nicobar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry are among the Union Territories that did not record any incidences of acid attack during these three years, according to the statistics.
