A Mumbai court has acquitted two accused in the 2002 Gujarat Best Bakery mob attack case. The court acquitted the accused Harshad Raoji Bhai Solanki and Mafat Manilal Gohil due to lack of evidence. Both the accused were acquitted on a bond of Rs 15,000 each.

The special court, while giving its verdict, acquitted the accused Harshad Raojibhai Solanki and Mafat Manilal Gohil in the Best Bakery case.
This case is of 01 March 2002 is related to Gujarat riots. According to reports, rioters first looted the Best Bakery in Vadodara city on the night of March 1, 2002, and then set the bakery on fire. About 14 people living inside the bakery were killed in this arson.
In this case, the police had registered an FIR against 21 people on the basis of the complaint of eyewitnesses. But, all the accused were acquitted by the Gujarat court due to lack of evidence. At that time this case was going on in a court of Vadodara in Gujarat only. Later this matter also went to the Gujarat High Court.
However, a review petition was filed by the Supreme Court in this matter in 2004, on which the Supreme Court, while hearing, directed to send the matter to Maharashtra. Hearing on this matter started in the Special Court of Maharashtra and on 24 February 2006, 9 accused in the Best Bakery case were convicted.
