Mumbai: Italian lady creates ruckus on flight, gets semi-nude and spits on staff, handled over to security staff

Mumbai: Paola Perruccio, a 45-year-old Italian lady, was detained by Sahar police in Mumbai on Monday after making a disturbance on a flight from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai. The passenger allegedly insisted on seating in business class despite having a ticket for the economy. She then attacked the flight attendants when confronted, and then partly undressed went up and down the aisle.

When did the incident took place?

After the incident-related Air Vistara aircraft UK 256 touched down in Mumbai early on Monday, the cabin crew filed a complaint with the police. On Monday at 2:03 a.m. IST, the plane took departure from Abu Dhabi.

The incidents were described by a police officer from Sahar police station, “At around 2.30 am, the woman, who was seated in the economy class, suddenly got up, ran to the business class and took a seat there. Two members of the cabin crew approached her to enquire if she needed help. When the flier did not respond, they requested her to return to her assigned seat. At this point, she started shouting at them and made aggressive gestures, leading the crew to suspect she was abusing them.”

The lady allegedly hit one of the crew members in the face and spit on the other when they tried to stop her from acting inappropriately. The lady soon began stripping as other crew members raced to help their shocked coworkers.

Flyer handed to Airline security staff

The officer said, “Much to the horror of the crew and other passengers, the woman started walking up and down the aisle without some of her clothes on. The ruckus continued for quite some time before the woman could be subdued and restraine.”

The flyer was eventually handed over to Air Vistara security staff and later the Sahar police when the plane touched down at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at about 4.53 a.m.

Perruccio, who was born in Sondrio, Italy, according to information in her passport, was the subject of a police report filed on Monday afternoon after initial enquiries.
